On September 13, 2020, 48 players competed in the Wallingford and District League’s invitation under 12 tournament. Nicholas Harris of Drayton won the boys’ event over Andy Mather of Blewbury 15-11, 15-2 while Danielle Tyers of Banbury beat Alison McKinlay from Cholsey 11-8, 7-11, 11-1. The team event went to Harriers of Banbury (135 points) over Shippon A (132). In Division 4, Oxon I travelled to play Cheshire III and came home with a 13-4 win which leaves them at the top of their group. Oxon II fell to Hertford- shire II at Elstree 8-9 with a certain men’s doubles slip- ping away after a third game 13-6 lead, Herts being the pacesetters in Division 6. Oxon III were away to Cambridgeshire III at St Neots and were beaten 11-6 after an early season home win. This young team has seen many changes over the sea- son with a number of players being blooded as well as the more successful ones being pushed into the second team so the result was quite satisfactory. In the county men’s league Darrell Todd and Paul Seakins won twice for Oxford University including an excellent 15-7, 14-17, 15-5 win over the opposing top pair Phil Tovey and Ian Jelfs but the University could find no further power and went down to Banbury 7-2. Andy Morrish and Stuart Willerton were un- beaten for Banubry. In the Oxford and Dis- trict league men’s Division Gosford Hill were toppled the first time. They sank FUST by Dick Hashman heavily 6-3 to a strong The Leys A team. Paul Hornby and Mark Denis were unbeaten, second pair Colin Knight and Rick Thomas won twice and third pair Pat Edgington and Andy Kill- ingbeck picked up one. In Division 3 Bicester A and Evenlode B met in a battle of unbeaten teams. Bicester emerged victorious 5-4 although Evenlode could boast an unbeaten pair in Les Middleton and Liam Kelly. Three junior league re- sults show wins for Shippon 3-2 over Spiceball (Vivitar superleague), AER over Elms Court C 4-1 (Bakewell U15 league) and Harwell B beat Hashman C 5-0 (E.W. Morris U12 league). A capacity 48 players competed in the Walling- ford and District league’s invitation under 12 tour- nament, when the finals were contested by the two top boys and girls in the country.
